I. Project Introduction

1. Project Background

The ASUS Foundation has maintained a long-term partnership with the Amitofo Care Centre (ACC), withnotable achievements in infrastructure development. Having observed the demand for information technology education in ACC and other local schools, we were invited to collaborate in improving the educational environment and generating a broader impact.

This project is dedicated to advancing IT education in Eswatini by delivering refurbished computers, establishing computer classrooms, and promoting IT-related courses. In addition to enhancing Eswatini’s educational resources, the project also provides Taiwanese university students with opportunities to engage with the people of an allied nation, fostering cultural exchange, strengthening diplomatic ties, and realizing mutual benefit.

2. Curriculum Design and Implementation

The curriculum covers basic computer skills such as basic computer operation and office software applications. In response to rapid technological development, we have also designed AI-related courses to teach students how to apply AI tools in their daily lives while cultivating critical media literacy, thereby opening the door to ICT learning.

For more advanced learners, we offer courses in hardware maintenance and programming, helping students understand computer specifications, operating principles, and basic repair techniques. Programming instruction further cultivates logical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Overall, the curriculum is comprehensive and adaptable, accommodating students of different proficiency levels and age groups.

II. Project Outcomes

1. Quantitative Outcomes

  • Beneficiary students: approximately 2,150
  • Newly visited schools: 7
  • Government agency visits: 1
  • Schools instructed: 5
  • TaiwanEswatini student exchange sessions: 1
  • Donated equipment: 35 desktop computers, 20 laptops, 4 projectors

2. Qualitative Outcomes and Needs Assessment

We conducted in-depth observations of campus environments to fully understand current facilities and resource allocation. Through interviews and discussions with teachers, we examined instructional methods, curriculum design, and the challenges faced, enabling us to assess both student learning levels and actual needs.

Additionally, by analyzing data from last year’s program, we allocated donated equipment to schools with the most pressing needs and assisted two schools in establishing computer classrooms.

3. Project Sustainability

The team revisited schools from last year’s program to continue computer training and classroom development. This year, we also extended our efforts to schools we had not previously collaborated with, conducting interviews and site visits to gain a deeper understanding of their educational contexts and resource needs. These actions have not only established a foundation for long-term collaboration but also

expanded potential partnerships, progressively building a sustainable educational support network in Eswatini.

III. Future Outlook

Through cross-sector cooperation and continued support, we hope to strengthen partnerships with local schools. Furthermore, we aim for the records and resources generated this year to serve as a valuable foundation for future volunteer teams, enabling subsequent projects to align more closely with local needs and provide the required resources.

In addition to deepening cooperation with existing partner schools and offering assistance with teaching materials and problem-solving, we are committed to expanding our impact and outreach. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that more students in Eswatini gain equal access to quality educational resources.
