I. Project Overview

The National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) India International Volunteer Service Program upholds the core spirit of “Big Hands Holding Small Hands” and is dedicated to “sustainable volunteer service.” For fifteen years, the team has partnered with Jamyang School in the Ladakh highlands, building bridges of knowledge and dreams for children in remote mountain areas. This year marks a new milestone as the service extends to Rigjung Public School (Leh branch) and Likir Monastery School, with the hope of empowering more students to transform their future through education.

From June 27 to July 21, 2025, the Jullay 15 team will travel to Ladakh, India. Through pre-trip correspondence with the schools, the team identified needs and designed courses, sponsorships, and outreach programs. The curriculum includes digital education, issue-based exploration, media literacy, and mental health, complemented by workshops on environmental protection, cultural exchange, and photography, offering students diverse and practical learning experiences.

On the sponsorship and public outreach side, the team continues the long-standing student sponsorship program and produces a monthly newsletter to update donors. It also launched an English book donation campaign and expanded its impact through social media and highlight videos. In addition, field interviews were conducted to gather feedback and future needs from the schools. Through these multi-faceted efforts, the team strives to create a higher-quality learning and growth environment for students. We firmly believe that this cross-border bond will continue to blossom with even greater results in the years to come.

II. Service Achievements

At Jamyang School, Jullay 15 introduced Python and Arduino courses, guiding students in programming and sensor applications to develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills. The “Hometown Issues” course encouraged students to reflect on Ladakh’s social and environmental development, cultivating global awareness and critical thinking. The media literacy course trained students to identify fake news and understand portrait and copyright rights, while the mental health course supported emotional awareness and stress management. Four interactive activities—Eco-Challenge, Night Market Experience, Paper Cutting, and Photography Workshops—allowed students to learn through fun and creativity, raising environmental awareness and broadening cultural horizons.

At Rigjung Public School, the team offered Python trial courses to spark interest in digital technology. At Likir Monastery School, basic computer literacy classes were introduced, giving young monks their first exposure to information technology and opening a new chapter of learning. The ASUS Foundation also donated 40 brand-new computers and 6 refurbished laptops, upgrading the computer labs and multimedia learning areas across the three schools and significantly improving digital resources.

For sponsorship and outreach, the team continued to promote education support through social media posts, newsletters, and videos, while adding new projects such as student vlogs and campus tour videos. This year, 278 English books were collected to enrich Jamyang School’s library. Field research and interviews were conducted with teachers and students to gain a deeper understanding of school needs. Cultural exchange activities further enriched the program, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s birthday celebration, Ladakh Cultural Day, and multiple off-campus visits. The most moving highlight was the team’s audience with the Dalai Lama himself, receiving his personal blessing—an honor that symbolized the highest recognition of years of dedication and fueled the team with renewed strength to continue.

III. Future Outlook

Looking ahead, the Jullay Team will continue deepening cross-disciplinary courses at Jamyang School and gradually expand services at Rigjung Public School and Likir Monastery School, introducing more digital and creative programs that overcome geographic and resource constraints. The team also plans to leverage online resources to build a more structured teaching assistant training and feedback mechanism for the “Senior Student Empowerment Program,” collaborating with local students to enhance instruction.

In the short term, the sponsorship program will focus on raising funds for students’ education costs, while actively developing long-term partnerships to ensure stable and sustainable support. We believe that each transfer of knowledge and every spark in a child’s eyes marks the beginning of a brighter future. This goodwill that transcends mountains and borders will become a beacon of hope, illuminating their path forward. And the Jullay Team will continue sowing seeds of love and dreams along this journey.
