Planning Progress
A service team composed of students and faculty members from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, in collaboration with the Department of Architecture at Taipei Municipal Daan Vocational High School, worked together to carry out a construction service initiative in the Andong community of Cambodia, which is served by the Cambodia Branch of Taiwan Fund for Children and Family (TFCF Cambodia) support center.
By inviting local residents to participate in construction work, the team not only completed a building but also provided instruction on tools, construction methods, and relevant technologies. This approach empowered local residents with skills in design and construction, enhancing their future developmental capabilities.

Service Benefit
This year's volunteer construction service focused on utilizing natural materials such as bamboo and wood. We successfully constructed a bamboo house that serves as a facility for teaching, gathering, and relaxation. The design also incorporated features to adapt to the local hot and rainy climate. The use of permeable walls and the orientation of the roof to avoid direct wind exposure ensured that the entire structure remains bright, well-ventilated, and cool even without electrical facilities. Furthermore, the interior remains dry during storms.
Through community workshops, we utilized refurbished laptops and projectors to provide woodworking instruction to more than 60 local youth and residents. We collectively assembled 20 sets of wooden boxes that can be used as storage cabinets and tables and chairs.

Future Prospects
We hope that the bamboo house we have completed can become a "Mobile Hub" within the community – a space where youth and community parents can learn, gather, and cultivate future development initiatives. It is intended to serve as a place that fosters the energy for growth, while also playing a role in enhancing the impact of the Taiwan Children and Family Assistance Foundation's services in Cambodia.
